The Approach

Why diagnostic
leadership works

In the emergency department, you learn very quickly that the presenting complaint is rarely the actual problem. A patient presents with chest pain. The diagnosis might be a pulmonary embolism, a panic attack, a cardiac arrhythmia, or an aortic dissection. Each requires a completely different treatment. Treating the wrong one does not just fail to help. It can cause harm.

Leadership is no different. An organisation presents with "poor performance" or "lack of alignment." The diagnosis might be a founder who cannot delegate, a trust deficit between the CEO and the board, a culture that punishes honesty, or a strategy built on false assumptions. Prescribing a framework before making a diagnosis is not coaching. It is guesswork.

Diagnostic Assessment
Structured conversations with the leader and, where appropriate, key stakeholders. We identify the real problem, not the presenting complaint.

Root Cause Mapping
We build a clear picture of the underlying dynamics, blockers, and behavioural patterns driving the issue.

Targeted Intervention
Only then do we design the coaching programme. Sessions, frequency, and focus are all calibrated to the specific diagnosis.

Ongoing Calibration
Progress is measured clinically. If the treatment is not working, we revisit the diagnosis. We do not persist with an approach that is not producing results.
